about

Story:

"Something is out there... Writhing... First came the undertow - The gentle tug of the bow. Now the vortex. Won't be long before a Maelstrom rises. Can it be.... Bor Krahta?" - Captain Sylo

"This land is as ancient as the very stars that hang in the sky above it... and every bit as majestic. I often wonder... Do the others see it true? Or have they grown complacent? I fear... The strength of our resolve may soon be tested..." - The High Temperess

"... I don't know... He doesn't look like in the statues... Kinda scrawny even... And where is his long mane? Is it just me or is he... underwhelming? He must be a hell of a hero to have been buried here in the first place... But Mya-Luka? I think not. Did we come all this way for nothing?" - Bahza

"It was not five moons ago. I tried to send word to Haven Town that the time of the prophecy was upon us... None believed. Bor Krahta... The Doom of The Deep has returned. Soon after came its kin - Far sooner than in the etchings. They attacked Haven Harbor. The Champions fought as well as could be expected. They managed to drive them back but not before half of the harbor was destroyed. The people have been rebuilding ever since... It did not die all those years ago. I believe it has been waiting... growing... The Krahta-Kin have wandered further inland - killing all who dare stand against them. Soon they will be here... They cannot be allowed near the Pool... I don't know if you are the hero of legend, but when I spoke the Light-Giver's name to the Living Water, you are who the Numa sent back. You are who answered the call, Luka..." - The High Temperess

"The cradle of Numa... The heart of the Isle... Across this stretch of the mainland, you'll find the Hylight. That is where the Good Lady wants you headed. Got it? Make the pilgrimage - Prove your salt. Maybe then she will let the little Champion live out the rest of his days helping me and Bahza fight back Bor Krahta! Baha!" - Fykis

"You may have been a legend in your time, little warrior, but Fykis and I have been training for this all our lives! She has seen more battles than I have and I've seen more than anyone! Show us what you're made of! Or we will be sure to come back for your body if your knees knock until the Numa leaves you! After we've cleaned up the kin of course!" - Bahza

"He... He did it... We didn't stand a chance and he... He just... No... No way he is the one! Still... What manner of man could take them all? Does the very Numa hear him and obey?" - Fykis

"Here we are! Many have made the pilgrimage. None have made the climb... This is as far as the Good Lady asked us to guide you... Look... You saved our skins. We had no idea what we were up against. All those years of training... Wasted. You took them all and made it look easy! I don't know if you are Mya-Luka, but I could care less after that display. You are unstoppable, man! We underestimated you... For that, I am sorry. Only you can make the climb, but if you make it up that tower and back again... It would be an honor to accompany you to Haven Town." - Bahza

"Bahza... Bahza... Wake up, damnit! Look up ahead... The beacon burns... The boy has done it! I've watched him from nightfall till now. You'd not believe the skill! Every close call - Every near miss... He moves with them. You'd think they were on purpose! He makes to ring the bells! I haven't seen a Nomad in years! We took this one for a runt... Bahza... He is the one! Or one of his kind at least!" - Fykis

"It has been a long while, old friend. You look... different. Ahhh, but there is no mistaking it! It is you... Your hair has lost its luster. Most of it is gone! Your eyes have grown dark and your body shriveled... but I know that look anywhere. Have you forgotten how you would chase us through the swaying palms or sing to Ara Numia in the cool of day? How we would fly you to the peaks to stargaze? What of when we stole your clothes and covered you in Grace-Bug honey? Not even that... Death has done a number on you! You know why your kind have called you back, I take it... Very well... You've made the climb. We are instructed by the Lady from the spring to give you something..." - Nameless Nomad

"Drink deep of the Living Water and see the glory of your past restored. The Numa will invigorate your body and mind to the end your people desire. Perhaps then you'll find some remembrance of the time before. I hope so... Our father aches to greet you... And we still await your thoughts on Grace-Bug honey..." - Nameless Nomad

"Now that's what I'm talking about! Baha! It really is you! You may not be the towering man from the statues but it's a hell of a start! And look at your hair! Those eyes! So this is what happens to someone who has tasted Tempered Numa... Fykis... We have a lot of training to do if we expect to best this one and even earn a swig!" - Bahza

"Look to the sea! On the horizon! It comes... Not again... Its... BOR KRAHTA!!! We have to move fast! It is near the harbor again! Why is it returning there? Last time it let the kin do... Wait... It's coming for you... It knows you're back! It must've noticed the Hylight's flame as the prophecy foretold! That or it can feel something is different. You've killed the kin so Krahta can't complete its initial assault! I'd wager its angry... Light guide us... Pray there is a Haven Town by time we get there..." - Bahza

"It's good to be back! We made the journey to The Rebirthing Pool just to see your return ceremony. You're an exceptional warrior, but don't let our performance against those Krahta-Kin fool you! We normally make short work of pirate and Megalo alike, so this is the longest we've been away from home in recent memory! We are gonna make way for the tavern at the harbor to meet a friend. You are welcome to join... If you don't have anything else to attend to, of course!" - Fykis

"Keep your hood up in here... We are here on business and that hair of yours is bound to attract it's fair share of attention - good and bad. There will be time enough for that once the Doom is dealt with. But we don't want some drunken Champion wasting your time with a challenge to the fighting pit if they should suspect you've had a taste of Tempered Water. Though, that would be a good laugh for Fykis and I after seeing you in action. They wouldn't know what hit 'em... Another time perhaps... Remember... Hood up... THREE PINTS OF MASH PLEASE!" - Bahza

"And what are you two sorry bastards doing? Ha! And who is the little guy? Wait a tik... That hair... Those eyes... You've tasted Living Water! This is no ordinary... No... You're the one the Temperess called back! I was at the ceremony! But you weren't half as stocky then, were ya? And you hadn't drank it yet... But the only way to get a vessel these days is... So... It was you atop the Hylight! You made the climb, lit the beacon, rang the bells and all! So, it wasn't a fluke like everybody thought! You're real! You're... Light guide me..." - Captain Sylo

"Everyone has been on edge these past few days. You killed almost all of Krahta's children. That didn't happen last time. I'd say that properly kindled its rage. It showed itself a few days back. You must have seen it in the sea from even a day away. The fishermen working the harbor that day alerted the watch and the whole town was plunged into terror and chaos. By afternoon, it just left. I guess it dragged itself back into its great whirl. If only we had been so lucky the first time. This is where it hit us. Made for a hell of a blow... They've rebuilt most of it and reinforced what they could. My guess is... It is distracted. I think it's looking for something. It destroys with efficiency. There is a method to it. That is how it did things last time when it fought the Champion of Ch- ... Well... My point is... I think it's looking for you." - Captain Sylo

"Yep! There she is - The Rivallion! It isn't much but it'll sail and it's a sturdy beast yet! That is how it withstood The Doom-Fall! It has taken heavy damage. It will need repairs and that'll take time and bodies. And it wouldn't be bad to fix it up with something more offensive either! I've got pull with some folks at the Mussel. You three and a few of them is all I'd need to whip her back into shape! My old friend M'baye is an engineer and one of the rare few on the Isle who knows a few experimental applications for Numa. The man is an expert in Numatic weaponry! He also happens to owe me a favor or two. I'm sure I can convince him to make us something for that great red eyesore! You flash those eyes of yours and he is sure to come around!" - Captain Sylo

"Gimme a hand with this one! Up! Up... There we are... That puts us at damn-near done! Now for the finishing touch! I cooked this bad boy up last night! The latest in Numatic weapons application! Light guide me! The Borean zealots would hang me for this! I give you... The Captive Bolt Canon! It fires a hardened rod of crystalized Numa! Get in close to the beast and fire! You'll only get the one shot, but it should stun it long enough for you to climb on it! What comes next is between you and Bor Krahta!" - M'baye

"We are coming into the Maelstrom! This will be where we part ways my friend! Make it back alive and you'll have a round on me for the rest of my days! I'll get you as close as I can and then you fire the canon at its slimy dome! Once you've made the shot, I'm gonna take the rowboat back while you climb on! I'm too old for this kinda thing! You're as crazy as you look, but Bahza and Fykis are the best fighters I've met! If they believe in you, then so do I! It's been an honor, little guy! Light guide you! But who am I to say that to you? You're the Light-Giver, aren't you? Then show that great red bastard... For all of us..." - Captain Sylo

"Its starting to move again... The bolt is wearing off too soon! He is gonna have to jump off and fight it! Come on... If anyone can do it, it is you... You are the last hope we have... The Rival of The Deep... The Lion of Numa... Mya-Luka... FINISH IT!" - Bahza

"There... In the fog... He lives... It is as it was foretold. Luka... We owe you our lives... The hero that was and is again... The Champion of Champions... The Light-Giver... The Legend..." - The High Temperess

Massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) THANK YOU to @mochiwei for her absolutely stunning artwork! Working with her was a breeze and the end result blew me away. She brought my idea to life in far greater detail than I could have hoped. Don't hesitate to check out her work if you need similar artwork for your project!

I also have to thank Alpharevx on Fiverr for his incredible work on animating the finished artwork into a seamless loop. He was super easy to work with and made the image practically leap off the screen for a price that was more than fair! If you need a 2D image animated into an amazing, sleek and seamless loop, he is your man!

Last, but not least, I want to thank my friend Matthew Fitzgerald for letting me bounce ideas off him! He understood the Breath of the Wild vibe I was shooting for with the album and was helpful from start to finish in coming up with ideas for the music and overall plot structure.
